Strongback Properties
Adrian, Michigan
Project Overview
This renovation revived the prominent Underwood Building on the north east corner of what is termed as the Four Corners, the center of downtown Adrian. Much of the building remained vacant for several decades. This building was completely gutted on the inside. Several areas received new floor framing and roof framing.
Unique Factors
- The non-load bearing partition walls were all removed in order to reconfigure the spaces for the new uses.
- Restoration of the historic facades and reconstruction of new store fronts comply with the time period of the buildings.
- New stairs and elevator provide access to the upper floor apartments.
- The north side of the building features a landscaped courtyard, and a rooftop patio for resident use.
